For the third time since October, Port St. Lucie has been ranked as a top place to live or do business, with a new Forbes.com (http://Forbes.com )list now naming the city as one of the 25 Best Places to Retire in 2014. The listing cites Port St. Lucie’s “warm coastal climate, above average air quality, cost of living 5% below national average, typical home price $140,000, (and) low crime rate,” as key reasons for the ranking. Last October, Forbes also selected Port St. Lucie as one of the 200 best places in the country for business and careers, based on cost of business, job growth and education data. The newest Forbes accolade comes after national online real estate brokerage Movoto.com (http://www.Movoto.com) in September ranked Port St. Lucie No. 1 on a list of the 10 best places to live in Florida, based on the city’s low crime rate, cost of living, housing and other factors. “There’s no doubt about it that these national rankings show we are a city on our way up,” said Mayor JoAnn Faiella. “Entrepreneurs are noticing, retailers are noticing and even international business leaders like Elon Musk at Tesla Motors are noticing. It’s an exciting time to be a Port St. Lucie resident or business owner.” Other reasons Port St. Lucie has been getting attention include:
• Strong bond ratings from three major national financial firms
• Several square miles of shovelready large parcels prominently visible along I95
• Easy access to Interstate 95 and the Florida Turnpike
• Excellent infrastructure, with modern water and sewer utilities and resources
• Central location within a two to threehour drive to 11 million Floridians
• Projected growth in population to 400,000 over the next 20 years
